Ragroof Theatre specialise in site-specific and outdoor
performances that engage, inspire and collaborate with communities.
“Bridges” is our new show for 2011-12, inspired by the Tango and
migration. It is a promenade performance, site-specific to car parks. This production
celebrates the inter-pollination of cultures. It explores how music and dance
can overcome barriers of language, creating mutual respect, understanding and
wonderful new art forms. We are collaborating with a Spanish/ French theatre
company 'Vendaval' on this exciting project.
Other current touring work includes Gloves
On – a show inspired by contemporary experiences within the boxing
community.
Shall We Dance? Enclore!, Make
Do and Mend and The Button Museum
are performances that celebrate the dance hall era and the joys of partner dancing.
They include work based on the wartime memories and reminiscences of older local
people.
Our regular Tea Dances are ever
increasing in popularity. These intergenerational happenings are perfect for
all ages; complete with glamorous performing dancers, instant dance classes
and of course, tea and cake!
