Ragroof Theatre specialise in site-specific and outdoor performance that engages and collaborates with the communities in which our productions are realised.
Our new show, Gloves On was a great success this summer, touring to street theatre festivals across the UK, see some choice clips here. Set in a full size boxing ring, Gloves On retells the stories of boxers and their families. A new direction for Ragroof, this work is a shift in focus from reminiscences of the '40s and '50s to working with the contemporary experiences within the boxing community. Gloves On embraces a provocative subject, working in a brave and bold theatrical style.
Other current touring work includes Shall We Dance?, Make Do and Mend and The Button Museum. These performances celebrate the dance hall era and the joys of partner dancing. They include work based on the wartime memories and reminiscences of older local people.
Our tea dances have been a huge hit this summer, brightening up parks, gardens and town centres alike. These intergenerational happenings are perfect for all ages; complete with glamorous performing dancers, instant dance classes and of course, tea and cake!
